This week I will be concentrating on creating a storyboard for a children's book I have been writing, in partnership with my older son, L. M. Oliver. The final draft is complete, as are the many thumbnail drawings. Now it's time to get serious about laying out the book. I will be taking the week off from making new daily drawings, but in the meantime will share illustrations from previous iterations of the book. Although, if the storyboarding process goes well, I'll pop in with a new drawing or two. While the book has undergone many changes, the two constants are the main characters: Miss Opal and Sydney, two small dogs with big dreams. In one version of the story, Miss Opal kept a field guide to "birbs." Her friend Sydney insisted that "birb" is not a word, but Miss Opal begged to differ. Here is her proof.
