As a child, my favorite toy was any Breyer horse. As an adult, my favorite toy is @LEGO. My sons got them every year for Christmas, and Christmas day was spent making ... anything. That was back when LEGO was sold mostly in big tubs. There weren't so many kits (with instructions) that had film tie-ins, or theme villages, or whatever. We were free to use our imaginations. I usually made houses. When my sons got older, they made an entire LEGO village in our basement. It was a real thing of beauty. This painting, and the one I will feature tomorrow, was made to honor and record that spirit of inventiveness and creativity and fun. I'm glad I made the paintings, because - sadly - the village had to be dismantled when we moved. Some of the buildings are still intact, and they live in nice big tubs in a climate controlled storage unit. Maybe this Christmas I'll get them out.
