"Ooh-ooh, I heard it through the grapevine!" The year was 1984; the singers were the California Raisins. A group of groovy, sun-glass-wearing raisins took the country by storm with their advertisements for the California Raisin Growers Association, and of course with their Claymation Christmas Special, wherein they gave a swinging, soulful rendition of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Like most American families, we collected the Raisins memorabilia and toys. This hip little guy is one of them.
